This poster by Varga Győző, is a mixed media movie poster intended for the use of a film adaption of “The Merry Wives of Windsor”. Győző utilizes flat illustrations mixed with intense brush strokes and photomontage elements. The complimentary tealish blue and the bright golden yellow create a stark contrast against the black elements and brush work.
Hungary was going through a major shift in aesthetics at the time and theatre was an outlet for many graphic artists at the time. Győző pulls from many of the shifts and techniques of the time using photo manipulation to create stark visual contrasts and also pulls influence from one of his mentors, Köpeczi Bócz István.
